| About Me My name is Gary White and I am the owner and primary restorer at Eagle Trunk Designs. Over the years, I've been blessed with several wonderful children, am a veteran of the United States Navy where I served providing medical care, and have a bachelors degree from the University Of Western Kentucky. I also worked several years in the Information Technology field mostly for larger health care institutions and corporate headquarters in various roles providing IT analysis, management, and development to both meet business objectives and improve the delivery of pharmacy and medical services to 100,000 plus nursing home and hospital patients per day for several years. Being an observant person on occasion, I found the nature and variety of character found in the antique field to be relaxing, something I enjoyed, and in time developed a deep appreciation for. Being fairly skilled with my hands, I soon sought out opportunities to improve a few of those inexpensive pieces others would probably not wish to tangle with because of condition or small value. I did not mind and just enjoyed the challenge and took pride in whatever improvement I could manage to make usable once again. I would have a nice piece of wood furniture and the tree our back would still be standing. In time I explored various methods, materials, and probably to the relief of some old dusty antiques, sought additional educational and training resources. The first antique trunk pretty much whipped me good as well as the second one but with better understanding and confidence in what the trunk had to offer on its own, they eased up and progress made. Eventually, my hobby grew to where I needed to start selling a few here and there to fund the purchase of additional antique trunks, and to make room for other things in the house. That was several years and several hundred trunks ago. Eagle Trunk Designs was started in an attempt to do something I enjoy, to promote the preservation of antique trunks and chests, history in general, and to begin building ownership in a reputable business for myself now, and for my sons and daughter in the future should they wish. Our beginning was very humble, some business mistakes made, and certainly it has been a learning experience. Still though, many beautiful antique trunks and chests have been restored or refinished and everyone that ever paid for one, has received it. My appreciation of their antique character has not been forgotten so onward we go. I continue to learn ways of applying unique looks to these old workhorses of the past for all to enjoy and my appreciation of the history they have carried continues to grow. I encourage others to become involved with history or the preservation of.......well anything from forests, to quality of air, to freedom, to Old Sleepy Eye Flour Sacks. Gone is gone, let us not forget. I have shipped trunks to most every state, several countries, and they can be found in places such as Glacier National Park, ski lodges, riverboats, Las Vegas Casino's, the Empire State Building, Wall Street, Hollywood, and even very near the Oval Office. But these are just a few trunks. I take my greatest pleasure in the 450+ trunks that I have placed in homes just like yours and mine. Be sure to visit from time to time. I do my best to offer a quality chest for your families use or something you can offer as a special gift to a special person. It is my belief that if used to store that old ball glove, favorite baby doll, school jacket, or other everyday items that have some meaning, one day you will find your purchase to have been more thoughtful and valuable than you could every have imagined. Thank you for dropping in and for your interest in these wonderful treasure chests of the past. Sincerely, Gary White Eagle Trunk Designs |
