| This collection of antique trunk maker labels spans 100 years from 1840 to 1940 and represents just a small fraction of the trunk makers that have existed worldwide. Many antique trunks found these days no longer have their original label or perhaps never had one. Either the label has been removed or there are many cases were a trunk company made lines of trunks for resale through a retail chain. Often the trunk was not attributed to the maker by agreement between the two parties. I encourage the preservation of these labels whenever possible. |
