antique trunk restoration services. Most examples of these wonderful workhorses from the past will
date from the eventful 1800's into the very early 1900's. During this time period, transportation
improved prompting change in design, hardware, and construction methods. The result is what we
now commonly call the travel, storage, or steamer trunk.
Many of the antique trunks built before the 1880's were made by individual craftsman in small shop
environments. These exist in limited numbers while the 1880's brought about a more mass
produced era. Although the various designs and characteristics are vast in number,
historically speaking, it lasted just a brief instant. Soon, further cultural and manufacturing changes
occurred and we adopted other containers such as cardboard boxes, suitcases, and plastic containers that
we utilize today for travel and storage.
